Description

This 2-hour webinar will provide forensic mental health professionals, attorneys, and judges with an overview of the forensic mental health consultant’s role in critiquing the work of forensic mental health expert witnesses, potentially discrediting or disqualifying the testimony of opposing counsel’s expert(s).  Participants will learn to apply forensic mental health standards, recognizing the faults and deficiencies in the reports of undertrained “experts” in the forensic mental health arena.  Participants will also be provided with a checklist of questions to answer when reviewing the work of other expert witnesses.

Learning Objectives
Objective 1: Define the role of a forensic mental health consultant in reviewing the word of expert witnesses.
Objective 2: Identify essential components of a forensic mental health evaluation.
Objective 3: Identify the bases for opinions offered by forensic mental health expert witnesses.
