Certified Forensic Psychometrist

The CFP credential is designed to certify licensed mental health professionals (psychologists, psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, counselors, clinical social workers, and marriage and family therapists) who have attained expert status in the administration, scoring, and interpretation of psychological tests commonly used in forensic mental health evaluation as evidenced by their training and supervised experience.
The term psychometrics refers to psychological testing1, or the psychological theory or technique of mental measurement.  A psychometrist, also referred to as a psychometrician, is a "professional who is skilled in the administration and interpretation of objective psychological tests2."

Requirements:

    1. To ensure that CFP candidates have already demonstrated competency in forensic mental health evaluation and are appropriately vetted, applicants must be Certified Forensic Mental Health Evaluators (CFMHEs)
    2. Successful completion of NBFE's 40-hour Testing for Forensic Populations: A Comprehensive Overview and Certification Program (40 CEs), which also guarantees Level C test qualification with Psychological Assessment Resources (PAR), Inc.  Note: This workshop is part didactic and part experiential.  Attendees will score and interpret several psychological tests under supervision with 100% accuracy prior to completion.
    3. A score of 70% or higher on NBFE's 100-question forensic psychometry written examination (to be completed virtually in 3 hours or less)

The CFP credential automatically renews each year upon successful renewal of the certificate holder's CFMHE credential.  There is no additional annual renewal fee for the CFP credential.
