The National Board of Forensic Evaluators, Inc. is a non-for profit public charity organization as described in section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Your practice is being limited by an ongoing turf battle over a generic word

 FACT:

As an LPC, LMHC, LMFT, LCSW & LICSW you cannot use any terms that contain “psycho” to describe you, your work, your testing or your reporting.  Most states have laws, spearheaded by psychologist, limiting the use of any word with “psycho” in it to psychologist.  Because most states restrict the use of the term "psychology" for LPC's use, we cannot even use the term "psychotherapy" in our reports or language to describe us or our services.

FACT:

You could be brought before your licensing board if you advertise your services as “psychotherapy”, call yourself a “psychotherapist”, say you do “psychological testing”.  This over the top regulation of our services as mental health professionals on the use of a generic word like “psychology” and any derivation thereof must stop.

FACT:

Most LPC's will be called to court as a Fact Witness at some time in their career.  Most LPC's are not prepared to conduct themselves in court and many become either disqualified and fail to represent their patient in a knowledgeable positive manner or feel frustrated and humiliated by a slyly conducted cross examination. This is further exemplified under cross-examination when the LPC has to defend his understanding when they are prohibited from using the most basic and understood terms, "psychological" and "psychotherapy."

PLEASE JOIN US IN RIGHTING THIS WRONG.  WE SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO PRACTICE OUR SCIENCE.  NOT ONLY FOR OUR FUTURE, BUT FOR OUR CLIENTS WHO SEEK AND UTILIZE OUR SERVICES.

Your donations, large or small, help us carry on the battle to reverse the injustices and inequities that are deemed unconstitutional and unfair. Your donations will not only help NBFE work with "families at-risk" but to work with legislators and the public and private sector to change laws that effect the continuity of quality-client and patient care.

Donation Opportunities: We depend upon the generosity of individuals, corporations and foundations to defray the costs associated with this legal challenge.

As Your donations will help ensure that NBFE will carry on the fight to make known to lawmakers that certain laws have been deemed unconstitutional as well as cause a misrepresentation of our function to the pubic and private sector.
